The Two-State Coalition led by Geneva Initiative Welcomes the Peace Day Effort

The Palestinian and Israeli members of the Two-State Solution Coalition welcome the Peace Day effort launched by the European Union, Saudia Arabia, Egypt, and Jordan, as an active step in incentivizing progress towards a two-state solution for all parties. The Peace Day effort recognizes the need for Israelis and Palestinians themselves to reach a negotiated solution on all core issues, while also emphasizing the international community’s commitment to advancing peace by highlighting the benefits of achieving a peace agreement. The joint press statement announcing the effort notes that “the situation on the ground is proving to be untenable and the status quo is becoming impossible to accept”.

We stand with those who seek to bring an end to the ongoing violent conflict, not just with statements but with actions and concrete steps. We call upon our leaders to take active steps to preserve the only possible peaceful resolution to the conflict: a two-state solution based on 1967 lines, with a sovereign Palestinian state living in peace and security next to the state of Israel.
